We utilize a wide variety of the best treatments available for care specific to your needs.

Resiliency Training

Preventing pain and injury is all about the right strategy. Let us teach you how.

My Services

Functional Dry Needling

FDN is a skilled intervention that uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscles, and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. It has been shown to increase blood perfusion of the treated area which can increase healing rate, as well as improving range of motion and muscular tension

Graston Technique (IASTM)

GT is an instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) using specially
designed metal instruments to stimulate muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments, and the nervous system to help increase healing rate and decrease pain through desensitization of nerves and increased blood flow to injured or painful tissues.

Resiliency Exercise Training

Resiliency Training involves exposing the body to provocative movements or
vulnerable positions in order to get it to adapt and better handle forces in those positions to help reduce injury risk and recovery time. If 99% of us dropped into the splits, we would be gravely injured. The 1% that can do it developed the skill over years of adaptation and practice so that it was no longer dangerous. We can find those exercises for your sport or career to help you remain injury-free.

Spinal Manipulative Therapy (SMT)

SMT,  is used to stimulate joints to increase range of motion, decrease feelings of stiffness, and allow for more pain-free motion. Many patients experience immediate drops in pain, allowing for more exercise and movement to be performed which can further increase healing rate.

Pain Neuroscience Education

PNE helps patients and clients create a better relationship with pain and helps them to identify possibly unseen ways that their pain may be affecting their lives. This can be very helpful for acute injuries, but especially for chronic pain or injuries in with a large psychological component, such as not being able to do your favorite activity or sport because of injury.

Myofascial Mobilization

is a form of manual therapy where hands-on techniques are performed on your muscles, ligaments and fascia with the goal of decreasing pain with movement, decreasing tension and stiffness, and increasing muscle function. Many times this will be performed with movement or doing sport-specific exercises for a more specific application.

Self Care Strategies

Self Care Strategies gives patients and clients a way to change their pain by themselves, reducing the need for a practitioner. Simple things like isometric exercise, PNF stretching, self
massage, etc can reduce pain in a pinch to help you do what you need to do if you cannot immediately seek care. Many times patients have applied these approaches too aggressively in the past, chronically aggravating an area which keeps them in pain. Introducing these techniques or calibrating what you may already be doing can drastically speed up the healing process.

My Approach and Values

Here at Colorado Springs Movement, our goal is to provide quick relief from pain and dysfunction while empowering our patients to take control of their health. The fact is, if you participate in sports, have a physically demanding job, or are just a normal human, injuries and pain will happen. Many people become fearful that they may not be able to do the things that they love, or the things they need to do to stay mentally, physically, and financially comfortable. Our goal is not only to get you back to normal function, but to empower you with knowledge and resources to make you a more robust, resilient human, lessening the need for care in the future. True Healthcare is treating the whole person, not just muscles, ligaments, and joints.

Our approach involves a three step assessment and treatment process that provides fast relief from pain or movement restrictions while teaching you how to handle these problems yourself, highlighting your strengths and identifying areas to improve. This begins with the following at the first assessment:

Neurological Screen and Orthopedic Tests- includes muscle strength, reflex, and sensory testing as well as orthopedic tests to identify areas where you may not be functioning as well as you could be.

Movement Screen – Identifies common movement strategies that may be causing extra stress on certain tissues, compensations, or pain. Painful “habits” will be identified and new strategies will be employed through exercise.

After we have identified areas for treatment, some or all of the following strategies may be employed to help speed up the healing process and allow for additional exercise therapy: Spinal Manipulative Therapy, Functional Dry Needling, Graston Technique, or Myofascial Mobilization. We like to think of these therapies as “opening a door” in your movement that was previously inaccessible due to pain or restriction, allowing for new movements where the real recovery to begin.

Lastly, Exercise Prescription, Self-Care Strategies, and Pain Neuroscience Education will be employed to ensure you get the most out of your treatment. By showing you ways that you can change your pain or relate to your pain in a different way, as well as exercises and strategies to aid in your own healing, you can be sure that nothing is holding you back!
