It is funny what you find when you google your name…
Not much information today, but I wanted to share something about personal growth. I happened to google my name a few days ago and one of the first things that came up was a Youtube video from my good buddy Tim Morrill at Morrill Performance, well before either of our professional careers. He was a masters student and I was in undergrad, both of us training to become better Ultimate players (Tim has since become a world renowned trainer of Ultimate players, check out his stuff for GREAT info on how to get the most out of your training).
The video is me doing “breathing squats,” a workout/torture routine designed to maximize muscle and weight gain (you are supposed to drink a gallon of milk a day… I passed on that). It took a lot of training to get to that point, and I was really proud of myself.
If I had to go back, I would not have done it. It’s pretty ridiculous idea, 20 reps over 4 minutes at 235lbs. I don’t even back squat anymore (more on that later).
It is important to know that you will never get everything right, but you should enjoy the journey. Being wrong is great. It means there is more to learn. You learn a lot by trying hard, even if it is doing things that has no real application to real life.
For the record, I listened to Idioteque by Radiohead every time I did this. Still my go-to for high intensity! Check out the video below.
