Meet Ben:
Doctor of Chiropratic
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa playing every sport I could, from swimming to football. I didn’t happen to be particularly GOOD at these sports, but I was certainly taught a good work ethic that paid off when I found Ultimate (frisbee) in college. I broke down the biomechanics, created periodized training programs, and spent most of my time playing or thinking about throwing a plastic disc around a field. I became captain of my team, and soon moved across the country to Corvallis, Oregon to play at Oregon State. During the first drill of the first practice, I tore my left lateral meniscus, and over the course of a year or so I plunged into chronic pain encompassing the left side of my body, lasting around six years or so. This experience taught me so much about life and happiness, forming goals and achieving them, and what it takes to persevere. This experience changed who I was as a person and, while I would never wish it on my greatest enemy, has helped shape my treatment and training approaches for patients. I do my best to instill self-efficacy in my patients and clients. Not only helping to relieve pain with many varied treatment techniques, but teaching skills and principles so that when injury or pain occurs again (and it will), you may not need as much treatment or can avoid treatment it all together. This to me is real healthcare. The goal is get you back to your life, not taking it up by being in the treatment room!
Our Values
Here at Colorado Springs Movement, our goal is to provide quick relief from pain and dysfunction while empowering our patients to take control of their health. The fact is, if you participate in sports, have a physically demanding job, or are just a normal human, injuries and pain will happen. Many people become fearful that they may not be able to do the things that they love, or the things they need to do to stay mentally, physically, and financially comfortable. Our goal is not only to get you back to normal function, but to empower you with knowledge and resources to make you a more robust, resilient human, lessening the need for care in the future. True Healthcare is treating the whole person, not just muscles, ligaments, and joints.

Our Approach
Our approach involves a three step assessment and treatment process that provides fast relief from pain or movement restrictions while teaching you how to handle these problems yourself, highlighting your strengths and identifying areas to improve. This begins with the following at the first assessment:
Neurological Screen and Orthopedic Tests- includes muscle strength testing, reflexes, and sensory testing as well as orthopedic tests to identify areas where you may not be functioning as well as you can.
Movement Screen – Identifies common movement strategies that may be causing extra stress on certain tissues, compensations, or pain. Painful “habits” will be identified and new strategies will be employed through exercise.
After we have identified areas for treatment, some or all of the following strategies may be employed to help speed up the healing process and allow for additional exercise therapy: Chiropractic Adjustments, Functional Dry Needling, Graston Technique, Myofascial Mobilization, and PNF Stretching. We like to think of these therapies as “opening a door” in your movement that was previously inaccessible due to pain or restriction, allowing for the real recovery begins.
Lastly, Exercise Prescription, Self-Care Strategies, and Pain Neuroscience Education will be employed to ensure you get the most out of your treatment. By showing you ways that you can change your pain or relate to your pain in a different way, as well as exercises and strategies to aid in your own healing, you can be sure that nothing is holding you back.
